Buy My Merchandise

Because of the clout I have as a webmaster, I feel obligited to give back by utilising part of this page to spread the word about some things that I don't think are right, or that don't live up to my moral and ethical expectations. I don't want to repeat the things that most people already know about and agree are wrong, that have been posted other places, so I will focus on the more obscure things. I will add more when I think of or find out about them.

1.) I was browsing online and was apalled to find out that some people are advertising digital portraiture of pets, humans, and other subject matter, claiming they are hand done and of professional quality, when they are actually just manipulating photographs with the smudge tool in Photoshop from what I can tell. This contributes to giving digital artists a bad name, many of whom work as hard at thier craft as traditional artists. They're also misleading the customers. How can some have no shame? I think it's disgusting.

2.) After reading the biography of Mikimoto and finding out about how the pearl industry has developed in the 19th and 20th century, I don't think it's right to cultivate pearls under controlled conditions. It's one thing to extract them from wild oysters even though they're killed in the process, because that's more similar to hunting, which is more natural. I don't think raising large amounts oysters in captivity to harvest thier pearls is right. I don't like it when humans try to take over the position of nature. Some people would argue that it's our perogative because we can, but I disagree and it bothers me that so many people think like that.

Links

I don't have anything to do with these sites, I just think they're interesting.

Secrets of Love - Solutions of Love - Love and Romance in the Philippines - I'm not Filipina or looking to date or anything, but I stumbled upon this site somehow and I enjoyed reading a lot of the ramblings, there is a lot of random computer stuff as well. This is one of the most memorable and well rounded sites I've seen on the internet. I also enjoy the aesthetic.

If you have a website and would like me to link it here, contact me and we can work out some type of agreement. My email is taracullen@live.com.
